Mgr. Petr Dohnal
(* 1960 v Pardubicích)
Petr Dohnal, born in Pardubice in 1960, first acted on stage at the age of 13 when he got a role in a Richard III. production at East Bohemian Theatre Pardubice. He later returned to this theater as an ensemble actor in 1987 and became its managing and artistic director in 1999. He studied at Prague’s DAMU and then worked at Brno National Theatre and Moravian Theater Olomouc. His favourite roles include Emil Magis in The Egg (1992), Khlestakov in The Government Inspector (1998), Lieutenant in Shear Madness (2007) or Jack in Spirit Level (2014).
Petr gets the best rest when he is working because theatre fills him with energy. In life he cares most about his family and on stage he cares most about good atmosphere because it can work wonders for the final result. He says happiness is not a thing to be had, it is an ability to learn and never give up. He is most scared of stupidity and hate. He tries to live by the Ten Commandments but does not always succeed.
